Raw Meat

You should avoid Raw seafood and undercooked beef or poultry. Because of the increased risk of contamination with coliform bacteria, salmonella, and toxoplasmosis.

Deli Meat

`        Deli meats can contain listeria, which is really risky for pregnant women and can lead to miscarriages. Listeria has the ability to cross the placenta and can infect the developing baby. It could also lead to infection or blood poisoning and may also be life-threatening. If you are pregnant and you want to eating deli meats, make sure that you expose the meat to heat until it is steaming.


Herbal tea

It may be a surprise for you that you should avoid some tea, too during your pregnancy even if it doesn’t have caffeine. There are not many types of research on herbs during pregnancy. You should stick to decaf black, white or green tea or with familiar herbs, such as lemon verbena, mint or chamomile.

If there is something you’re unsure of, don’t consume it. A pregnant woman should also avoid eating anything in access.

Fish with Mercury

During pregnancy, you should avoid fish that contain a high amount of mercury. Consumption of Mercury during pregnancy can lead to the developmental delays and can cause brain damage.

A pregnant woman should also avoid chill seafood which are often label as lox, nova style because it can contain listeria. These are safe to eat as an ingredient in a meal that has been well cooked, such as a casserole. This type of fish is often present in the deli portion of your grocery store. Shelf-safe or preserve seafood is usually good to eat.

Fish Exposed to Industrial Pollutant

You should also avoid fish from polluted lakes and rivers that may contain high levels of industrial polychlorinated biphenyls. Mainly people who fish in local lakes and streams should be aware of this danger. These fish include bluefish, striped bass, salmon, pike, trout, and walleye.

All other soft cheeses which are made with pasteurize milk are safe to eat.

 A pregnant woman should avoid unpasteurized milk because it may contain listeria which is the most common cause of miscarriages. You should make sure to use pasteurize milk which is free from bacteria.


Pate is another food that  you should avoid during pregnancy. Because refrigerated pate may contain the bacteria listeria. Preserved pate or shelf-safe meat spreads are generally safe to eat.


Although most studies show that caffeine intake in moderate amount is acceptable, but there are others that show that caffeine intake is greatly the cause of miscarriages.

During the first trimester, you should avoid caffeine to reduce the danger of a miscarriage. It is a general rule that caffeine should limit the amount of caffeine to fewer than 200 mg per day during pregnancy.

As caffeine is a diuretic, which means it helps to eliminate fluids from the body. it can result in water and calcium deficiency. It is very important that you are drinking plenty of water, juices, and milk in place of caffeinated drinks. Unwashed Vegetables
